This painting „Herkules“ by the German painter Marion Pilz from 2023. Hercules is a copper statue of the Greek demigod Heracles (German Herkules) in the Wilhelmshöhe mountain park in Kassel, created in the early 18th century. The work is intended to highlight the beauty and landmark of the city. In the background you can see the Devil’s Bridge from Bergpark, slightly indicated by a pencil drawing. His hand lies behind his back and holds the apples of the Hesperides. They stand for love, fertility and eternal youth. Hercules was an ideal ruler, especially in the 16th and early 17th centuries, who replaced Apollo in the Enlightenment and Classical periods.
